FHE

Top of jar reads:
FHE - made with consistency, love, and laughter.  No expiration

My family should submit an entry to the Guinness Book of World Records...

We have had Family Home Evening for three weeks in a row!  That's a record for us...as sad as that is.

However, we have re-committed ourselves to having it EVERY week.  I figure, if we can't get in the habit of having FHE now, there is no way that we will be able to do it regularly when we add to our brood and when the kids are older.  I think it's extremely important for us to have FHE for the kids as they grow up so they will learn about spiritual things here at home before anywhere else. They will need that extra protection--especially in these trying times.  Most importantly, I think it will be so crucial so that they can practice bearing their testimonies here at home and so we can build family unity and spend time together to feel the spirit and to have fun.

It's important for us to make the time to do it...even if it's just for like a half hour.  It doesn't have to be anything fancy.  We normally have an opening prayer, song, read an article from the ensign and discuss it and then say a closing prayer. As Blakeley gets older, of course we will modify it.

So...I'm challenging all of you to have FHE every week as well.  If you work a lot and "don't have the time," schedule at least a half hour during the week and treat it like an important meeting that you wouldn't dare miss.  It doesn't have to be on a Monday.  Get together with friends and rotate if that would help.

JUST DO IT!  NO EXCUSES!

  1. That is great that you are doing FHE so well! We definitely try to do it every week. We have been pretty consistent and like you said, it is a good habit to create now rather than try later.
