We got this picture from the surgeon today. It's of Skylar's small intestine during surgery. The obstruction or blockage is where the black arrow is pointing. You can see how it looks pinched. The surgeon removed the intestine in that area (where the two vertical lines are on the left & right of the arrow) and then sewed the intestine back together. It's pretty cool that they took a picture during surgery & that we were able to get it!
Skylar is doing better everyday & today she was great! She was really like her normal, happy self & she was smiling a lot. We were even able to take her on a walk around the hospital so we walked around & we went outside to the courtyard as well. It was really nice & I'm sure she enjoyed the fresh air.
Today was also a pretty significant day in terms of the game plan for her recovery. They took the tube out of her nose that goes to her stomach & if she does well without it (doesn't throw up stomach bile), then they will start feedings tomorrow. That is a huge thing. The surgeon even said there's a chance she would get discharged on Wednesday, although that seems too soon for me & I don't even want her to get discharged that soon! I'd rather play it safe & make sure she's really good to go. But yay! That means she will probably get discharged this week which is sooner than I was expecting. Can't wait to bring my little sweet pea home! I miss her.
